The old man in the pile - 2021-08-08, day 39

I had a small road trip today and drove about 600 km. I saw a lot of rain, two deers, met some friends, learned some horrible news, did a very small amount of work, and I also found this old man hiding in gravel (in the middle, looks like the typical image of Santa Claus with a large beard).

My fluffy cat - 2021-08-07, day 38

Say hello to my very fluffy cat: Agnes. If you are interested in cats you might ask “Is she a Norwegian Forest Cat” and the answer is nope … however, there is more to say about this. First, take a look at her sister … yes, they are sisters and they are from the same litter, here is a photo of Agnes at the same age. They have somewhat similar coloring, but the similarities stops there.

Immediately when we got them we started to question that they had the same father, as we were told. The mother have the some coloring as Agnes but slightly darker, but what about the father … I was told that he is a short hair cat with “standard” coloring. While we were a bit suspicious and said that it was possible that Agnes had a different father (she was the only one in the litter that had this kind of fur), we didn’t think much about it.

However, a week or two ago I happened to come across a photo of a Norwegian Forest Cat and it looks very, very similar to Agnes. It’s only the coloring that differs otherwise it’s a 100% match, although Agnes is a smaller cat (the mother is a very small cat). I think it’s safe to say that Agnes and Tove have different fathers, and that Agnes father is, with 99% certainty, a Norwegian Forest Cat.

The dry road - 2021-08-06, day 36

Today was the first time in quite some time I was able to take a “decent” walk. Unfortunately I’m keeping to paths that I walked many time before. My vacation is soon over but I still hope that I can find the time to get out on a real walk and discover some new paths/places.

Köpte en bok från England, PostNord kollar och lägger till moms 28kr, avgift till PostNord 75kr 🤦🏻‍♂️

Jag måste komma ihåg att inte beställa något från England.

My favorite table - 2021-08-01, day 32

This is probably my favorite table ever, and I’ve been the owner of it for at least 30 years. Long story short: at university I had a friend who got the table from his brother, but my friend didn’t have an apartment big enough for it (2m by 0.8m, like a bed) and traded it for a smaller table that I owned. It’s a very sturdy table and you could in fact sleep on it (no, I haven’t tried).

The table is probably 40-50 years old and have been used by at least two families … with kids, you might understand why it wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t really bad, but you could clearly see that nothing had been done to it in a very long time (I haven’t done anything to while I owned it). Anyway, I’ve spent the last few days “renovating” it ,and now it almost looks new. I need to put on a few layers of oil and then I hope it lasts for at least another 30 years.

A new project

I’ve tried to do a 365 project1 a couple of times, but I’ve always failed after about 100-150 days. This means that I’ve started the project January 1st and stopped somewhere in March–May. And the last photos are usually taken late in the evening when I remember “Ohhh, I need to take a photo”, and then I abandon the whole thing.

Well, I got inspired to try again when I saw the site by Woody Campbell, he takes one photo each day, and apparently he plans to continue doing this for the rest of his life. My plan is not as ambitious, I just want to see if I can reach 200 photos and set a new personal record.

My rules are simple:

  1. The photo has been taken that day.
  2. It doesn’t have to be published that day, it’s OK to publish in batches.
  3. No need for fancy photos, it’s enough with photos from my daily life.
  4. It’s not OK to just publish a photo, there has to be some text in addition to the photos.

You can follow along by going to micro.mostrom.eu/categories/daily/

  1. You take and publish one photo every day, and in my opinion the photo should actually be taken that day. ↩︎

Blueberry season has started - 2021-07-31, day 31

It looks like the blueberries are ripe, I don’t know if there will so plenty of them like it was last year, but let’s hope so. The reports says that there was a lot of cloudberries this year so that’s at least something.
